This is Al-Azem Palace in Damascus, painted in photoshop.

I did this painting during the workshop Mr. Shinkai Makoto supervised in Syria. I was touched how Mr. Shinkai taught us how to paint background art and shared his secrets and art with us with unlimited generosity. Thanks Mr. Shinkai for everything.

It is gorgeous!
I think the color choice is brilliant.. Hope to see more of art like this from you..

wow..
Thats really good.
I love the mirror in the inside of the house. The shaded area is very well-painted.
The planting vase's (?) on the front shading is really good.

Question, did you leave anything from the original photo?

on a second look, the tiles look perfect :)

and I have one thing I'd like to say,
You should do something with the sky. The picture looks unfinished because of it.

I might be wrong, anyway XD

Hi!
Yes actually I left some of the original picture, but in back area.. it is not very obvious, and it is hard to erase all the detail because we did not have enough time in the workshop (It was only for 2 days!!)
And as for the sky, I did some clouds but mr. Shinkai told me to erase them, he added lens flare to it when he made the final movie ( I saw the one he did for u ^__^) and it was very nice!!
